{Right. So let me get this straight. You marched right in there and picked the single most bad-tempered avian in there... because it was pink?} {Uh... yeah, about that...} {Don't worry about dog-boy here. He's just jealous. My feathers are so much nicer pink colour.} {Ah, shaddup.}
So far, Arley reckoned, his pokemon had spent over ten minutes arguing with each other. Maybe it was the headstrong nature of the shiny pokemon; maybe they just didn't like each other.
Casting his gaze around the reaching trees, he closed his ears from the inisistent bickering going on around him.
(( Ack, dead muse. ))

Cries of Pokemon began drifting down the Route toward's Arely's sensitive Riolu-ears.
~Shinx! Shi shiiiiii!~
~Oh, shut up, for once!~
~...No.~
The angry scuffles continued, becoming progressively louder as the Pokemon involved grew neary to the Riolu 'morph. The first Pokemon that came in sight was small one. It flew so quickly that it were scarcely able to pinpoint the location, and soon Arely found a small Tailow fluttering in front of his face.
~Shinx! Look! I've found a trainer!~ It piped, and a small cub Pokemon ran to the meeting.
~Hello, Mr... Boy. OOOOH! Look, he's a trainer! Ablol and Milu!~ Shinx squealed with delight. Perhaps it wasn't the smartest of Pokemon...
~Um... Shinx, they're and Absol and Riolu. Come on, let's fight 'em!~ Tailow cawed, and Shinx nodded, adopting an offensive position.

{Oh! How perfectly delightful!}
Trotting forwards a few paces, the Absol regarded the two small pokemon with an expression bordering delight. {How nostalgic. You know, I remember when I battled critters like this. Brings back memories, y'know?}
Not seeming to notice their offensive poise, he lowered himself down onto his haunches, peering closely at them. {Taillow, the tiny swallow pokemon. Shinx, the flash pokemon. Aww... aren't they cute?}
Behind him, the shiny Murkrow rolled its eyes. {Sure, yeah, right. Excuse me, pinky, but we're not all super-macho pokewarriors. I'm just fresh out of the lab. Though, heh, I could OF COURSE beat these two in single combat. Hah. It's not as if, you know, I'm scared or anything.}

Shinx's silly grin spread wider when it heard that Murkrow was not scared. It was surprised at the amount of knowledge the Absol seemed to know; up until now, it had been pretty certain it was an Electric Pokemon. It didn't even know Flash Pokemon existed! Tailow sensed it's friend's simple confusion, and slapped it's forehead with a wing, dropping a few feet before beating them frantically to regain altitude.
~Sorry about Shinx, Shinx is a little stupid.~ Tailow nodded. ~So, how about that battle, then?~
It took Shinx a while to figure the insult out. ~Hey! I'm not stupid, I'm just... brain expansion squash trouble. BEST. It's serious problem; my brain is too big for my skull.~ it nodded, tapping it's head.
Tailow shrugged, very difficult to do when you're airborne. ~Still sounds hollow to me.~ it announced, recieving a glare from the Shinx below. Tailow darted to Absol and landed on the wolf's spike.

((WEWT MINI WRITING))
Absol shrugged as the Taillow fluttered up and landed on his scythe. {Why not? It'll be good training for the newbie here.} {H-hey! Who're you calling newbie? Watch this!}
And without a further word, the Murkrow dived forwards. Its beak glowed as it attacked with a Peck attack, directed at the Shinx standing on the ground. [/sub]

Tailow and Absol exchanged glances as the less experienced Pokemon attacked each other. Tailow sized Absol up, and, finding that he looked too strong for the little bird to handle, looked to the trainer. ~Do you have any other Pokemon? Like, one of those doubly-battles?~ it asked.
Shinx was presently busy with showing off it's 'muscles', so it did not notice the Murkrow swoop silently from it's perch on Arley's shoulder until it was too late and the cub was lying spread-eagled on the floor. It blinked slowly, then got up, gradually realising what was going on. Shinx then bounded forward; Tackle.

{Me, me! I'll battle with you!}
Arley turned in surprise as a deep pink Chikorita waddled up, and gazed happily at him. {Hi. Who are you?} For a moment, Arley was speechless. Then he seemed to find his toungue. {Uhh- right, yeah. I'm A-Arley. New in this region. And you are?} Chikorita leapt exitedly up and down. {Gosh, you seem so interesting! I want to come with you!} Arley seemed just a little wierded out by this pokemon that seemed to be permenantely themed like it was Valentines day, but simply nodded. {That's okay, I guess. Yeah. Sure, why not?} The Chikorita did a little dance. {Excellent!}
Meanwhile, Murkrow's movepool was a little limited, so instead of dodging, he simply stood there and charged up another Peck. The Tackle attack didn't hurt too much, and it got the opponent nice and close for his retaliation.

Tailow gave a trilling sound as it fluttered down before the Chikorita. Although a little bemused by the Pokemon's sudden, and rather strange, appearance and acceptance onto the boy's team, it fluttered it's wings until they lifted the small bird off the ground. Darting forward, the Flying type attemtped to use Peck on Chikorita.
Murkrow's Peck caught Shinx off gaurd, for it was still showing off a little. The cub blinked stupidly, before realising what had happened and giving a sharp shriek of pain. It sucked on it's paw for a moment, before narrowing it's eyes at the opposition. It charged in with another Tackle.

Murkrow flapped his wings and rose slightly out of the range of the tackle, but he was too slow, and he winced as the Shinx's body clipped his tail feathers. Turning around, his eyes seemed to glow, and he swooped down low, almost radiating a malicious aura as he cackled. This was the attack Leer, and Arley had to admit, the Murkrow looked impressive, yellow eyes gleaming intently.
Chikorita squealed as the Peck drove into her side. Backing away a little, she launched a Tackle of her own. These battles were pretty straightforwards, Arley reasoned; with one or two attacks at their disposal, the pokémon were battering against one another, until the loser dropped out.

Tailow, being able to move in more dimentions than Chikorita, flew over the skidding Grass type and landed behind her. It gave a triumphant chirrup, then launched itself into the air again. The chirrup ceased to stop, but soon it had changed to a horrible sound, light curling it's way over Tailow's small form. This must be a Focus Energy attack- nothing was done to Chikoria, of course, but Tailow's attacks would now be more likely to be critical hits.
Shinx cocked it's furry blue head as it watched the Leer, not entirely sure what was happening. As it watched with interest, it began to feel a little worried. In fact, a lot worried. The cub whimpered in fear and covered it's face with it's paws, as if trying to hide from the outside world. Occasionaly, an eye would peek out. Eventually, when the attack was over, Shinx leapt up and barked. Then it commenced charging in a Tackle.

Chikorita skidded around, annoyed. This wasn't going to work, but she didn't have any other offensive moves. Back to the basics, apparently.
Snarling, she skidded in with another Tackle Attack as Taillow was on the ground. Attack power was on her side - hopefully. Mainly, she was counting on the average low defense of flying-types.
Murkrow clacked its beak angrily as the Tackle Attack collided, skidding backwards a couple of paces. Feeling rather un-inspired, he dug his beak in with another Peck attack. Arley coughed, and glanced at Absol.
{So, uh... how do you think my commanding skills are going so far?} {Uh, on a scale of one to ten? Not good.}

A muffled yell came from the Tailow, in the middle of the Focus Energy attack, as Chikorita rammed into it. Grass types may not be too fast in general, but they sure could hit hard. To one with such low Defense as a Flying type, namely Tailow, it felt as though a handfull of rocks had been tossed at it. It had felt this pain before, while scavenging in a human town, but it still made a mental note to avoid being Tackled by Chikoritas after this battle ended. Presently it attempted to use the incompleted Focus Energy again.
Shinx felt the beak through it's skin and yelped in pain, withdrawing from Murkrow. For something that stupid, the cub had an extremely good memory- so good, some might call it 'photographic', although of course it did not know what that meant. It recalled from somewhere that wild Pokemon were not as strong as trainer's Pokemon, because a trainer was smarter and could think of tactics instead of concentrating on surviving. At least this trainer didn't seem to be commanding his Pokemon. Shinx's eyes locked with Murkrow's the piercing glare becoming all the more frightening as the Pokemon's fur stood on end. Leer.

Chikorita grinned - at least its attack had been felt. Opening its mouth, it began to Growl; a soft sound at first, then rising in intensity. Arley was surprised at such a 'big' noise coming from a Chikorita who had seemed so small and docile. The Chikorita advanced menacingly, keeping up the threatening Growl attack. This was meant to be cute enough to shock the foe into not attacking so hard, but Arley thought the Chikorita looked more menacing (and a little silly) than cute as it advanced.
Turning his attention to Murkrow's battle, he saw it flinch as the Shinx's eyes locked with his in a Leer attack, before readying his beak in another Peck. {Murkrow, wait! Use Astonish instead. Astonish!}
Murkrow looked around in surprise, before nodding quickly. With a great flapping of wings he hurled himself into the air, hovering above Shinx and giving his meanest, nastiest 'grin'. Well, it wasn't really a grin, because he had a beak, but it was a sort of leering stare that got the message across. {Boo!}
The word was laced with menace, and Arley felt a shiver run down his spine. Murkrow was certainly good with the theatrics.

Tailow shivered as the Focus Energy began to slow down and stop. The light was dwindling down, a series of flickering sparkles of energy as the tiny bird fought the urge to squark in fear of the silly looking Chikorita. Squeezing it's beady black eyes tightly shut, it allowed itself an anxious twitter. The Focus Energy was very nearly complete, and it didn't want to ruin it now... then the last rays of light were absorbed into Tailow's feathers. It shook them; it knew that, although it's attack had been lowered, it was now able to hit harder more often... critical hits, right? It seemed to try for one now as it swooped low in a Peck.
Shinx was a little slow in reacting. The golden eyes were relaxed for a moment, before it realised what was going on. ~AAAAAAAAAAAAAH! it screamed in a low pitched voice- was this a male, perhaps? If so, it seemed Tailow was female. Although the scream was a little late, it was piercing and got the message across as the Pokemon scurried across the landscape in search of a hiding place. Finding none, it attempted to stand up to the ghostly Murkrow, looking him straight in the eye with a Leer. Maybe there was some bravery in him as well.

Chikorita hadn't been prepared for the speed of Taillow's attack. As she saw the beak coming towards her, she braced herself. However, Arley knew that if Taillow pulled off a critical hit, not only would it deal triple damage, it would also ignore all attack dampeners - meaning Chikorita's Growl would have been useless. As Chikorita felt the creature's beak pierce its side, she winced; but didn't seem too badly hurt, meaning it hadn't been a Critical Hit. Yet. {Chikorita, Tackle Attack again!} Arley called. {We should try and bring it down before it can pull off a Critical Hit!}
The Chikorita seemed to agree with that notion. Lowering its head, it charged again at the Taillow, cursing its low speed and manueverability. Someday, Chikoritas WOULD learn how to fly, and then they'd show all those smarmy Flying-types.
Arley turned his attention to Murkrow's battle. It wasn't going too badly, he had to admit, but that was the second time Murkrow's Defense had been lowered, and he was going to take a big hit when Shinx's next attack landed. {Okay, Murkrow, Peck once more!} Murkrow turned its head, nodded, and dived upon the Shinx again. Arley supposed he was just lucky Shinx couldn't use any electric-type moves yet (though with wild pokémon, you never knew) - it was very unlikely it had been bred with an Egg Move out in the wild. No such luck with Taillow and Chikorita; every Peck hit double the usual damage because it was super-effective.
