Starting out

Kairi and Nox had walked out on Route One on Evergreen Road. Kairi was already looking around for a Pokemon to catch. She couldn't wait to make her first catch. She seemed very excited. "Pichu help me find something to catch," she told him.

Pichu got down on all fours and started sniffing the ground trying to sniff something out. Kairi took out her Pokedex to check to see what Pokemon can be found on this first Route,"Wow! There's a lot of cute Pokemon here. I can't wait!" Kairi said as she danced around in an excited mood.

Kairi climbed up a tree and took a look around,"Hmm, just my luck. Not a Pokemon to be found for miles," Kairi conplainned. She sighed as she climbed back down the tree. Pichu was walking around in circles sniffing.

"Find anything Pichu?" Kairi asked him. Pichu sighed, shaking his head no. Kairi sighed in defeat.

Nox and his Riolu, Lux, used their abilities to try to sense any Pokemon. Nox, also finding nothing, asked Lux; after all, Pokemon with this ability could sense much batter than he could. Lux shook his head, then shifted his weight in Nox's arms, gaining a more relaxing position. The boy looked a little annoyed. "Lux, you can sleep at night! Right now we're on the Route. We've just started our journey!" he hissed, and Lux raised one ear, although his eyes remained shut. +But it's almost night. Besides, Riolu and Lucario are nocturnal.+[/i][/color]

Nox sighed. +Not quite. They just sleep whenever they want, and hunt when no other Pokemon can see. Think ahead; we humans will sleep all night, so there won't be much to do besides sleep then.+[/i] he explained, using his weak telepathy back. The Riolu submitted, and rose, dropping to the ground. He led his trainer over to Kairi and Pichu.

"Hey, Kairi. We might as well get to know each other while we wait for a Pokemon." Nox began as they started to walk down the path, eyes open for Pokemon the whole time. "So, I might want to start by telling you a little about me. OK, I'm a triplet, but my brothers died with my mother. My father forced me to work at a nuclear power plant, but I became mutated and got radiation poisoning, so it was discovered they were using child labour, so my father and the power plant manager were arrested. I was sent to an orphanage, and I've heard a rumour that my father died in prison. Because of my mutation, I can use weak telepathy to understand Pokemon, and sense aura. In the orphanage I've always admired dog-like Pokemon. There." he explained in a quiet tone. He left out the part about him knowing Pokemon moves, in case Kairi asked him to use them and he lost control. He did, however, pull back his sleeve so the girl could see the bits of fur and a few scales.[/size]

Kairi jumped back in fear. She didn't know what to think. She stood there in shock. Kairi had always liked cute and beautiful things. Yet she was traveling around with someone who wasn't cute or beautiful by the look of his arm. Just then Kairi's aura changed to one of fear.

A few leaves from a nearby tree were shaken from their branches as a flash of pink and white hopped onto it, then the next branch, then a large leap into the next tree. Up above, an equally fast flying something seemed to be chasing it. After a few seconds though, the pink-and-white blur misplaced a paw and fell down from the tree hopping, its legs sprawled outwards as it lay there, dazed. The thing that had been chasing it slowed and turned around, chirping with laughter. The pink-and-white one, once it was out of its slight daze from its fall, glared at the bird. +What's so funny? I'd like to see you not use your wings and trying running!+

[/color] it said in dismay, not even noticing the two trainers within the vicinity. +No can do, sorry. All I've ever known is my wings. Can't do anything without them,+[/color] the bird said, landing beside the pink-and-white pokemon and giving it a playful peck on the head.

Kairi saw what had happened to the Skitty. She ran over to it when she saw it in a daze,"Are you ok?" She asked the Skitty. Pichu was right beside her.

Nox looked to Kairi, a little embarrassed. "No need to be scared or anything," muttered. Lux's teeth were clenched. Whoever had done this must be punished.

The Skitty and Pidgey came into view, and Lux leapt forwards, a snarl on his lips. Nox shook his head. "It's all right, Lux. I'm fine." he told the Riolu, then turned to Kairi. "You like cute Pokemon, right? Then I guess you'll be wanting to fight the Skitty. Lux, let's do this! Blaze Kick on Pidgey!" he called.

Lux was taking long, deep breaths. He felt his leg grow hot. Hotter. He gave a cry of war as his leg burst into flames harmless to him, and he leapt into the air with it raised in a karate fashion.

"Yea, I guess. Now that I see Skitty's ok," Kairi said. She turned to Pichu and nodded,"Pichu use Charm." Pichu nodded using it's Charm attack hopping to lower Skitty's attack power.

The Skitty looked up at Kairi, startled. It jumped to its feet and backed up a bit. +I'm fine,+

[/color] the Skitty said in a forceful tone. Obviously it didn't like anything asking if it was ok or not. The Skitty looked at the Pichu for a while before turning to the Pidgey. It was about to tell its friend that they should leave before a battle broke out, but it was too late for that. The Skitty saw the Riolu from another trainer get fired up for battle, literally. +Look out!+[/color] the Skitty called to its friend. The Pidgey looked behind it just in time to see the Blaze Kick coming towards it. Stunned, it barely had time to move, and still got hit, plummeting to the ground as its left wing had been hit pretty hard. The Pidgey hopped to its feet, glaring at the Riolu. Without warning, the Pidgey leapt into the air, and charged back at the Riolu with a Tackle.

The Skitty sighed, knowing where this would go. The Skitty turned to the Pichu. Well, if they were going to fight, it might as well begin it. The Skitty darted forward nearly as fast as it had been going before it fell towards the Pichu with its own Tackle attack. +Nobody messes with my friend and gets away with it!+[/color] it cried. It saw the Charm attack coming, and quickly dodged it, then continued its charge at the Pichu.

"Pichu dodge it!" Kairi cried. Pichu jumped out of the way,"While it's running towards you use Volt Tackle!" Pichu started charing up Volt Tackle. He then ran at Skitty,"Chu! Chu! Chu! Pi.....CHU!" Pichu screamed jumping at Skitty using Volt Tackle, hoping to hit.

Lux grinned as his attack suceeded. He would win! He was powerful! He was the bravest thing ever! He was- hit.

The Riolu gave an angry growl as he was thrown to the ground by an angry Pidgey. He scrambled to his feet, hearing Pichu make a lot of noise beside him. He didn't look; he could risk a silly mistake like that again. He bounced from one foot to the other as he waited for the next order. "Quick Attack!" he heard, and smiled to himself. His paws thudded against the ground as he zipped lightly toward his opponent. Now the bird knew what was going on, it would be useful to use a more accurate move like this.

The Skitty skidded to a halt after the Pichu dodged its attack. When it turned, the only thing it saw was the Pichu in a yellow sphere charging towards it. It didn't have time to think, let alone dodge, and was sent flying backwards a few feet. It quickly got back to its feet, not happy in the least. It charged forward with another Tackle towards the Pichu, sensing it had taken recoil damage from its last attack, and would be somewhat weaker.

The Pidgey glared at its opponent. It hadn't asked for a battle, but one had come. This wasn't its first battle, and for sure not its last. It was somewhat experienced, and knew a few tricks on how to get out of sticky situations, such as this one. it watched the Riolu closely, obviously quite energetic. But, it seemed a bit over-confident, the Pidgey noted. As the Riolu came forward with a Quick Attack, the Pidgey pumped its wings towards the Riolu, using Sand-Attack, in hopes to stop the Riolu from hitting it, or at least veer off and hit someone or something else.

Kairi tried to tell Pichu to dodge but he was frozen for a few moments as he took recoil damage from using Volt Tackle. Pichu was sent flying backwards and hit a tree very hard. Quickly Kairi pulled out a Potion using it on Pichu. Pichu got all his HP back. "Now use Thundershock Pichu!" Pichu got up fully healed. He started charing up his cheecks,"Pichuuuu!!!!" He sent the sparks flying towards the Skitty.

Lux chocked on the sand as it blew in his face, and skidded to a halt upon the discovery that he could not see with all the sand in his eyes. ~Ruuuui...~ he groaned as he clawed at the sand. He grew more agitated, until finally it was surprising he managed to get the power out without gouging his eyes out.

Nox clapped his forehead. Oh, dear. Well, this was just one attack. They wouldn't all end like this. And it was the first battle- Lux was inexperienced, Pidgey was not. There. So there was nothing to worry about. "Lux, you're doing fine! Try that again, but be a little more careful!" he called.

Lux nodded, then focused entirely on his opponent. Maybe he wasn't the greatest after all, but he could be if he tried. The Riolu stepped back a few steps, then charged.

The Skitty smiled with pleasure as it saw the Pichu flying backwards. If it could do that again, the Pichu would get even more worn-out. Plus, the trainer couldn't keep using Potions on her Pichu. She would run out eventually, and if she was smart enough, she'd save the rest of her Potions for later battles. Using them all up now would not be wise, but the Skitty didn't want to tell her that. Of course, the trainer likely knew that as well, but the Skitty wasn't going to give up easily. As the Pichu used Thundershock, the Skitty ran forward, directly into the attack. It wasn't the smartest of ideas, but the Skitty wanted to catch the Pichu off-guard again. Feeling itself weaken a bit from the attack, Skitty continued forward in another charge, but this one was slightly different. As it neared the Pichu, it used Tail Whip, in hopes of lowering the Pichu's defense so it could use Tackle with more force and have more success at possibly winning the battle.

The Pidgey didn't celebrate that its attack had worked, didn't stop to see if the Riolu would be fine, and frankly, didn't really care about the Riolu. The Pidgey knew from its experience that if you got over-confident in a battle you were likely to lose. You had to keep your focus. Of course, the Pidgey wasn't the toughest of Pokemon, that was for sure, and if the Riolu could get a few attacks in, he would likely beat the Pidgey, with its not-so-good defense. So, Lux was the Riolu's name, huh? Interesting... Trainer's usually tended to give their captured Pokemon 'names'. The Pidgey didn't really understand the point and had always wondered why. Perhaps, if he purposely lost this battle, he would find out? That was a good idea; glancing over at Skitty, the Pidgey knew that the Skitty would likely be defeated, so he might as well, too, seeing as they did everything together. The Pidgey waited for the Riolu to make its attack. Well, the only thing it could really do was either use Sand-Attack, or confront with its own Tackle... or do nothing. So, that's what the Pidgey decided to do; nothing. The Pidgey allowed the Riolu to hit it, and allowed itself to feel the wind upon its feathers. Even though it planned on losing now, it wouldn't allow itself to completely be defeated in a couple of hits and do nothing about it. It straightened itself out, and began pumping its wings again, flying forward with a Tackle towards the Riolu.

Pichu saw the attack coming and braced itself. "Why is that Skitty running into Pichu's Thundershock for? Wow! That's a pretty tough Skitty. Now I want it more then ever," Kairi said getting excited. But she decided to hold in her excitment a little longer. If she took her attention away from the fight at hand it could turn out bad for Pichu. Kairi watched and waited and at the last minute hollered out,"Now Pichu! You use Tail Whip as well and hit it's tail just as it uses Tail Whip on you!" Kairi hoped that Skitty would fall for it.
