The sun was blotted out by the number of dark clouds that were mashing together to create a wall of shadows. Snow was falling, making it difficult for the flying pokemon Staraptor to fly, so her and Dante landed in a safe spot before continuing. The frozen water seemed to stick to the pokemon's wings, so Dante brushed the bird pokemon off every so often to keep it from overly freezing. The travel had taken a day, but it was all worth the trip. This was the new region; Sinjoenn.
Only Dante could feel this way about his arrival. He was so excited in meeting the new trainers and gym leaders that he would be facing along the way, that he was running to keep himself from shaking to much. Staraptor didn't need much to keep up with Dante, so she was secretly having fun, too, seeing as how she could beat the optimistic, former Champion. As they rounded a corner, a great breeze swept by, reminding Dante of what he would need soon; a coat.
He shivered and watched as Staraptor did the same, brushing off the snow itself with its beak. Dante removed a blanket from his bag that was around Staraptors neck, removing the heavy pack and wrapping the warm fabric across Staraptors head. It wouldn't fit her body, so hey. In return, the bird pokemon opened up a wing and allowed Dante to snuggle up into the warm mass of feathers, lucky duck.
Both trainer and pokemon alike knew the hardships of the world, and they came prepared for anything. Dante remembered exactly as if it were yesterday; his first journey across the Sinnoh Region. He even remembered his Staraptor as a little Starly. So scared, yet so brave, and now look at her. She's got the look of a knight, just as all of his pokemon, even the ones in his PC. Now, he had to leave them be at Sinnoh, for now was a new story for Dante to fulfill.
A building in the distance spoke to him. He knew immediately where to go to get his starter Pokemon. There were Ice and Water pokemon roaming around the entrance, but Dante left them be as he and his pokemon reached to the top of the steps, opening the door leading into the large lab. It seemed that no one was here. Was it break time? Man, that sucks.
He had been waiting for this moment, but now no one was here. CRAP!

((By the way, you can't take Starraptor with you, it's too strong)) There was a crash and a roar from inside the lab. It sounded like a door was wrenched from it's hinges, and there came Professor Hide's angry voice from inside. "That's it! Charizard, ball! Now!" the sound of a Pokeball being used came through the door.
The front door opened. Professor Hide was a mess; her trousers were torn, her lab coat had black burns in it. Her hair was in desperate need of a brush. "Sorry. As well as researching and giving out starters, we also keep trainer's Pokemon safe and happy. That Charizard is always in a bad mood..." her voice trailed off as she recognised Dante, her eyes widening. "Oh my goodness! Are you who I think you are? Dante? The former Champion of Sinnoh! Come on in!"
Once the threesome were inside, Hide grinned. "I heard you were starting fresh, but I didn't realise you'd be coming here! If you're starting new, would you like me to keep your Starraptor here? I have acres of land, with plently of room indoors too, she'll be great! Have you made your mind up about what Pokemon you'd like for a starter?" she asked hurriedly, gesturing at the map on the wall. It covered a lot of land, including a dojo, forest, plain, and huge kitchen. All for Pokemon. This would be a very good place to keep Starraptor if Dante was starting fresh.

Dante brushed the back of his head as Professor Hide spoke to him in a rather quick tone. As he listened to what she had to say, he could feel Staraptor brush her wing against his arm, trying to attract his attention. He knew exactly what she wanted, too. Staraptor wanted to settle down and take a break for awhile, which was what Dante had planned ever since he had left Sinnoh. Dante nodded as he laid his other Pokemon, in their pokeballs of course, on a nearby counter.
"I didn't know that that news had gone around so quickly, Dante said with a slight laugh. He continued, "If it wouldn't be to much trouble, Professor Hide, I would like to leave the rest of my Pokemon here, too. I won't be needing these guys for awhile, anyways. Dante brushed a hand across the spheres of white and red, knowing exactly which Pokemon was in each ball. Dante agreed with Staraptor, knowing that all of these Pokemon needed a good break from the Trainer life. He sighed as he turned back to Professor Hide.
"As for my starter... Is there, by any chance, a Tropius left? That species of Pokemon always did amaze me." Before anyone could say another word, Dante had returned Staraptor to her pokeball, placing it beside the others. He would have to leave them now, which was hard for someone such as a Champion, since they had grown so attatched to their Pokemon. It would be hard for any Trainer, or at least it should be. All of those adventures... all of that time spent on training just so they could beat the next Gym Leader, it came rushing back in a jolting memory. He sighed one last time and a large grin appeared on his face as if nothing had changed or anything.

Hide smiled as she took the Pokeball, dissappearing through a door. A flash of red light came from behind said door, and the sound of Dante's Pokemon settling in came through. It sounded as though Skarmory had flown to the gym- faint sounds of the Steel on Steel wrang on. Hide reappeared. "Thanks. They seem to be doing well. Tropius? I think I have a couple." she announced, grabbing two Pokeballs from a drawer marked 'Grass types'.
The first Tropius was female. She blinked at Dante, and stepped carefully toward him. She was small for a Tropius, but seemed quite friendly as she nuzzled Dante's shoulder curiously.
The second, male Tropius was the normal size. He streched out his neck, grumbling. It seemed he disliked being cramped in a Pokeball for so long. He clumsily walked around the room, studying Dante but not going near.
Hide looked at the Tropius. "The female's quite friendly, but not as good in battle as the male. The male is rather clumsy, and a bit of a challenge. Is there any other kind of Pokemon you might want to consider, or will you take a Tropius?" she asked him. The final descition.

Dante rubbed the female's head, smiling. He looked back at Professor Hide. "I don't see why this female Tropius can't become one of the best in the Region. I'll take the female Tropius... I'll be sure to restart my journey some day and pick the male, if it isn't taken already, that is." Dante turned his attention back to the Tropius and nodded. This was the partner that he was going to journey the world with. This Tropius was going to win him the Championship title, he knew it for a fact.
The memories of winning the first Championship in Sinnoh was refreshed in his mind, reminding him of how much training it would take to defeat this Region. It took him a good few years to finally beat Cynthia and the Elite four, his Pokemon happy that they finally won. Now, all he could do was wait as fate played out for him. He would have to train even harder for the challenge that awaited him on the other side of this building. "Say, Professor, were you once a Trainer?"

Hide smiled. "No, my interests have never rested with battling. I have a Pokemon friend though, but he comes here entirely because he wants to. OPTIMUS!" she called. A Lucario stepped into the shadows.
~Hello, Professor. Oh, I believe you must be Dante. I shall fetch your starter pack right away. I'll just be a moment.~[/i] He said telepathically, before disappearing again.
Tropius smiled, standing firmly and confidently next to her new trainer. Now would be a good time to get to know each other. The male was returned.

Dante nodded and looked around, his eyes gazing on misc things. Sinjoenn should be interesting enough, right? So many Pokemon here and there to catch and train, it's much better than the Sinnoh in different aspects. He sighed as he rubbed Tropiuss head again, his smile still broad on his face. This Tropius... a fascinating one it was. So small, yet he could feel the excitement and power it was hiding.
It was nesscessary for Dante to be able to tell which Pokemon was the best choice by what was inside and not on the outside. It's how he chose Turtwig when he first started. It was him, Professor Rowan and three Turtwigs with all different personalities. The first was to punky, the second was to mean, but the third, although disobedeient and more of a loner, was Dante's choice. It must've come to a surprise to the Turtwig, seeing as how its face was wide with amazement.
Now, in replacement for the grass Pokemon, was an equally great Tropius, whom he would train until it became better than any other Tropius out there. He rested his forehead on the Tropius and laughed a little, raising his head to the sound of rustling. Must've been Optimus, that unusual Lucario of Hide's.

It was Optimus. He was back in good speed, holding a small pack of starter's items. He handed it to Dante before melting into the dimly lit background. ~I hope you get good use from these items.~[/i] he told him. The way he did that almost made you want a Lucario. Hide smiled, passing Dante a Pokeball. "That's Tropius' Pokeball. Be sure to let her out a lot, she prefers to be outside." she told him, before laughing as Tropius' neck curled around Dante's shoulder. "I think you'll get along brilliantly!" she smiled.

Dante nodded and patted Tropius' head so he could walk out. So, this was the starting of his journey, eh? A pulse of excitement shocked his body as he twirled the Pokeball on one finger. "Well, we're off now, I suppose. Keep safe Professor." And, with that, both trainer and Pokemon left out of the door without saying another word. As the door opened, a cool breeze swept through, lingering in the lab as the door shut itself.
It was still snowing, flakes of white falling on the ground and whatnot. Dante bit his bottom lip before motioning Tropius to follow him down a route opening. On a sign nearby, an arrow pointed with the words Route 1 printed in black, snow covered letters.
