Instant trouble; Just add Water

Nox lunged for the end of the line, but it was close. At the same time as he grabbed the strong line, Lux could not battle against the currents tugging at the log any longer. Luckily for the doomed Riolu, Nox managed somehow to hold onto Kairi's line with one hand while he grasped Lux's flailing paw with the other, dragging the Riolu to the river bank, where he could not take the strain of Kairi's weight one-handed any more and so put the Fighting type safely on the ground as he gripped the rope again, pushing the Pokemon out of harm's way with his foot.

Lux was amazed by this, but could not stay to watch. He scrambled away from the river, then, seeing his trainer was struggling to pull the girl out, ran back again to help. The other Pokemon were a little confused, but they supposed he had his reasons. It would be interesting to watch, at any rate. The Riolu had a determined look on his face as he leapt in front of Nox and gripped the fishing line as well. Kairi began to move towards the boy and his Pokemon.

"Lux, what are you doing?! You might fall in again!" Nox hissed, their teamwork pulling Kairi forward another inch.

~Helping you! You saved me, and Kairi, so I should at least help you!~ Lux muttered back.

"Lux, I appreciate it, but I'm scared for your safety. Lux, please, don't fall in again. You may think I'm brave or whatever, but Kairi's the real hero. She saved Budew and almost lost her life!" Nox exclaimed, for admiration was one of many emotions present in the Pokemon's eyes.

~Maybe so, but what you are doing is brave. From what I've heard, all your life you've been brave. Surviving radiation poisoning, living through becoming mutated wordlessly, and now saving my life and pulling Kairi out even though you're slipping. Don't pretend you don't know you are.~ the Pokemon said, for he could see that tinge of worry in his trainer's mind.

A lonely tear ran down Nox's cheek. "I know, Lux, I know. We're slipping. But Lux, get out of the way. Please. I can do this." he said, and the Riolu shook his head. "Lux, I won't let you die!" he cried, moving the Pokemon behind him with a foot, shuffling so he wasn't so close to the water's edge, and pulling again. Kairi was almost there, she would definately make it. Lux's last comments lingered in his brain as the Riolu reminded him of them. +Lux, there are many more far braver than me. I just had an oppertunity. Besides, it was only mild radiation poisoning.+ he said back using telepathy.

Kairi was pulled to shoe all shoaking wet. After she got on shore. She took her fishing rod and put it back up before crying as she said,"Thank you Ux." She gave him a tight hug. Sparky forgot all about the Piplup and jumping from rock to rock he got back on the other side and ran and jumped in Kairi's arms,"Pichu!" Sparky cried from happiness, as he and his trainer hugged. "I'm glad to see you too Sparky." Kairi grinned. She called Sasha, Mittens and Happy back into there balls to get them over on this side of the river. But as soon as she did all her Pokemon popped back out and created a dog pill on top of her knocking her down on to the ground as they all hugged her and cried with joy. Sparky walked over to Lux,+Look thank you for saving my trainer. Sorry we didn't get along when we first met.+

((Haha, sorry for last post. I didn't even check to see if anyone else had posted before I quickly shut down the laptop at school Well, not like it would have mattered. I missed lunch even without looking, so... meh. Wish it wouldn't have been Corn Dogs today, though... -grumble-))

The Budew was amazed that the human would risk her life to save hers. It was speechless, and it noticed the bond between Kairi and Nox; it was quite strong. Though they seemed to have not favored each other at the beginning from what it sounded like, that was gone now. As soon as the Budew was ashore, a safe distance from the water, it joined in on the pile on top of Kairi happily, completely forgetting about its friend watching them across the river. Well, there was quite a bit of excitement, and the Budew got distracted quite easily.

The Piplup was in a bit of shock when the trainer had plunged into the water. Even if it had reacted, it likely wouldn't have been strong enough to do anything to save her. But... its friend, too? Well, it had to be thankful to the trainer for that. The Pichu and Piplup's battle had never finished, and the Piplup was fine about that. Well, maybe if it was lucky, it would get some peace and quiet around here, since no one had a desire for the Piplup anyways. Perhaps it had been forgotten; yes, that seemed like it. With all the excitement across the river, they wouldn't notice it, the Piplup realized happily. It sat down, its head cocked to one side as it watched the Budew jump all over Kairi with her Pokemon as if she were already hers. The Piplup sighed; it had never experienced that kind of happiness or gratitude, and it doubted it ever would.

Nox watched Budew's gratitude to Kairi. It seemed that if she was already this happy, it shouldn't be too long until she evolved into Roselia- a popular choice for contests, as he knew Kairi was interested in. He was unsure if Kairi would be able to do both contests and gym battles, for just one alone would be difficult enough. As he had once heard somewhere; 'Jester of many, Master of none'. This meant someone could have a basic understanding of lots of things, but not be good at anything. The saying had tought him that if he focused on one single thing, he would do it right.

Lux was still regarding Nox with the strange newfound admiration and loving in his eyes. He was relaxed in the boy's arms, looking out at the sun. He then had an idea, for he could see Piplup was a little upset at Budew's happiness, or something of the sort. He got his trainer's attention, and pointed. Nox nodded, walking over.

The boy crouched down to the same height as the little penguin Pokemon. "Piplup. I know your friend likes Kairi a lot, and I have a feeling they will hind up on the same team. You would be alone... so I was wondering if you would want to join me, Lux, Minari and Devela? We're travelling with Kairi, so you'd be with Budew as well... I'd train you, too. Train you until you're the best you can be, and an Empoleon. Well, that is if you want to evolve. So how about it?" he asked.

((Piplup was across the river, just so you know ))

The Piplup watched the Riolu and his trainer make its way over. They made it across the rocks so easily, compared to the clumsy female trainer. Well, at least she was happy, and so was its friend. It thought about running away from the Riolu and its trainer, since they would perhaps want a battle, but it stayed put, still sitting when Nox finally made it across the river.

The Piplup had a flashback as Nox crouched down beside it; one that had happened not too long ago. A trainer not unlike Nox had seriously injured its mother, which it still saw now and then since it hadn't matured enough to have a mate of its own or anything, but rather was like a 'teenager'. After nearly killing her, they took her away, leaving the rest of the Pokemon in the area dumbfounded. That's why, at first, it was terrified of Kairi. But, now that it had seen Kairi, and her love towards her Pokemon... it wasn't so sure that all humans were the same. Nox, however... it wasn't sure about Nox. He had jumped into battle right away, using a types-advantage. But, he had saved the other trainer... was there something of significance that the Piplup was missing here, or was it just plain stupid?

Be alone? Of course I would be alone! Piplup thought, thinking about making a smart remark like 'Thank you, Dr. Obvious' or something, but it refrained from doing so. Well, that was something new... a male and female traveling with each other? That should be interesting... and, the Budew was going to be with Kairi, so... hell, why not? The Piplup would give Nox a chance, and see how it turned out. +I suppose,+

Nox grinned, Lux coming out his arms to sit on the fresh grass, nearer the Piplup. A smile was on his face, too. A new teammate! That brought them up to four! What an invincable team they would be when they all evolved! Lucario, Pidgeot, Luxray and Empoleon! They would defeat every gym leader and elite member in Sinjoenn- no, the world! Alongside their friend, Kairi, who would defeat all the contests in the world! With her cute team of Pikachu, Blissey, Delcatty, Glameow and Roserade! Unless Pikachu and Glameow became Raichu and Purugly, but he personaly didn't think they were as cute. Not as cute as they were now, anyway.

Nox woke Lux up from his daydream with a quick telepathic murmer. He didn't speak any actual words, it was more of a random sound. Presently, he was reaching to his belt, unlatching an empty Pokeball alongside the three occupied ones. He enlarged it and showed Piplup. "To be part of my team, you have to go in here. If you don't like it, you never have to go in there again, I promise. It's just for a few seconds." he explained. Lux nodded; he didn't like his Pokeball, and he hadn't been inside since the lab.

Kairi was very happy for Nox. She turned to the Budew,"That was quite an adventure we had. If you come with me we will have more adventures and fun. So what do you say Budew? Me and my friends here would love to have you around." Kairi told it. Her Pokemon all grinned at Budew. They all waited for it to make up it's mind. Kairi figured since Piplup was going with Nox that Budew would go with her so that it could stay with it's friend.

The Piplup cocked its head at the PokeBall, looking at it awkwardly. Well, it couldn't be that bad, right? Because if it was, then Pokemon would never want to be in there. +Alright,+

[/color] the Piplup said, curious as to how it would feel. The Piplup raised itself from its sitting position and waited for the PokeBall to be thrown; perhaps the life of being with a trainer wouldn't be so bad...

+I wouldn't really call that an adventure,+[/color] the Budew argued. +Adventures are supposed to be fun. That was terrifying,+[/color] she said. Well, if this trainer's ideas of 'adventure' was terrifying things, well... so be it. At least it would toughen up some, right? The Budew had completely forgot about its friend, the Piplup, until then. She peered over Kairi's shoulder at the Piplup across the river with the trainer, obviously making peace or something. Well, if her friend could do it, she could, too! The Budew straightened up, waiting for the round ball-thing to be thrown at it.

Nox smiled warmly at the cheering answer. He waited for Piplup to press the button, then realised he must be wanting him to throw it instead. Fair enough; we all had our preferances. He gripped the Pokeball tightly. It wasn't as if this object was going to be a major part of his life, just there was a chance that Piplup would like it, and it was sort of nerve-wraking when he was about to capture a Pokemon. He looked over to Kairi, whose Budew was als behaving like Piplup, but with a little more enthusiasm. He let go of the Pokeball, curving his arm in a wide arc as he did so. Piplup was absorbed in the red light.

"Don't worry, we will have much better adventures, then this one," Kairi said. She noticed that the Piplup was being sucked up inside the PokeBall. Kairi did the same thing. She took out a PokeBall, and leaning arm backwards and making the PokeBall bigger she threw it at the Budew. Kairi and Sparky watched as the Budew was sucked up inside. Kairi was already thinking of a nickname for her,'I think I'll call her Rose cause she reminds me of flowers and her evolved form has flowers for hands.' Kairi thought as she watched the PokeBall which had sucked up Budew....er....Rose up inside it. She watched the ball shake.

The Piplup's Pokeball stopped shaking after only a few shakes; as did the Budew's. Easily caught, and barely even a fight put up.

Congratulations! Nox caught a Piplup, and Kairi caught a Budew!

Nox grinned, clipping the Pokeball to his belt. Kairi already had six Pokemon; he couldn't believe it! Well, he was fine with his four, from all over; the lab, the shop, route one and route two. A nice little group. Well, that is, until they grew to be insanely strong! He knew he could do it. He was now one step further. He could see Parchville, quite close by; that was their destination. He pointed this out to Kairi, then made for it.

Kairi cheered as the PokeBall stopped shaking. She picked it up with her good arm. Her other arm was still in a cast from where Scar had bit threw her arm stright to the bone. She put up Rose's ball. She had an idea though, she'd give the Soothe Bell she got a little while ago to Scar. Kairi pulled out the bell and turned around,"Hey Scar look what I have for...." he wasn't there,"Uh....Scar?" Kairi turned her head this way and that. Scar wasn't here,"Oh no! Ux, Scar is missing. I think he may have ran away from me," Kairi said, tears in her eyes.
