Conor Fitz walked towards the Eggery with a smile on his face. 'Man I am so psyched for this. I mean I was originally going to go to the lab instead. But, I think that the bond between Pokemon and Trainer is usually better if the Pokemon is egg hatched. Now I wonder what type I should get. Eh, I'll decide later,' thought Conor as he reached the Eggery. Walking inside, Conor was awestruck. 'Wow, I have never seen so many eggs before in my entire life! They must have a good selection to choose from,' Conor thought as he stared slack-jawed at the endless possibilities of Pokemon. Snapping out of his reverie, Conor softly said, as to not disturb any Baby-Pokemon that might be around sleeping, "Hello, anyone here?"

"Hello, there, young man!" said a cheerful voice. A woman with flowing orange hair came strolling up, a Squirtle scuttling behind her. "It's great to see a new face here. We don't get too many people here because of their already made-up minds on what starter they want," she said with a sigh. The Squirtle mimicked her emotions, also giving a sigh. "So. All you need to do is walk around for a while, and I'll follow you. Usually the first Pokemon that hatches you'll take, unless you're absolutely against it. I'm Professor Hide, by the way. Hydro, would you go get a pack, please?" the Professor said. The Squirtle saluted her and scampered off happily. "After you," she said with a smile.

Conor nodded his head, proceeded to walk around and said, "Nice to meet you Professor. I am Conor Fitz." . While he was walking, he began to think, 'I know that I may be taking a chance with this. But, I feel that this will be good. Good thing I have no qualms about Bug- , and Normal-types. Otherwise, I probably would not be here. I wonder if the eggs are separated by type? I better ask.' Looking to the Professor, Conor said, "Excuse me, but are the eggs separated by type?" He stopped walking after he said this and waited for the Professor's reply.

"Pleasure to meet you, Conor," the Professor said. She continued walking behind him, looking at the differently-colored eggs as they passed by them. It always fascinated her as to how eggs hatched at the presence of their trainer. When he paused, she knew a question would follow. She had had too much experience with this to not know what to expect.
"Not completely separated by types. There are groups of certain types, according to when they were laid. Grass-type and fire-type eggs that were born in the same month, for example, will be grouped together. But, if there are Grass- and Fire-type eggs that were laid the next month, or month before, they will be in a different area," she explained. "There are signs underneath them to show what group they are. Sometimes they are a bit colored, and that gives it away. Leaf for grass-type, a Caterpie for bug-type, flame for fire-type, lightning bolt for electric, and so on," she said.

Conor nodded to what the Professor said about the organization of the eggs. 'Seems like a good way to organize something to me. I thought that they would organize it solely by type. I guess that it is better this way so that Trainers can go up to the area where the eggs are gonna hatch soon and get their first Pokemon earlier.' thought Conor as he looked around. Looking back at the Professor, Conor said, "That seems like a good way to organize it to me. Um, are we allowed to choose the type of Pokemon we want, or do we just walk around and wait for an egg to hatch?" One could tell that he was excited for getting his first Pokemon.

"Well, it's not against the rules, necessarily, but it's more luck of the draw. If you want a certain type, spend more time near that type of egg, or eggs if you are hoping to get one of a few Pokemon you have in mind," the Professor said. She wondered what Pokemon he was hoping for- or, at least, one of them, if he had more than one. "So, it's a little of both. Wait for one to hatch; quickly skip over the ones you do not want as much as others. If you pass by quickly enough, no eggs should hatch," she said.

Conor nodded and replied, "Okay, thanks." 'Now where is the nearest egg batch? he thought as he looked around. Finally spotting one, he walks up to it and says, "So I guess that I just stand here and wait until the next egg hatches? If so I'll just wait here until that happens. " Conor said. Standing by the batch, he waited for the next egg to hatch. 'I'll accept the next Pokemon that hatches. I don't care what type it might be, after all the Professor did say that it is the luck of the draw.' Conor thought as he waited.

"Well, I think you just found yourself a new partner," the Professor said. For a while nothing happened, but then a distinct mix between a vibrating and a hum was heard. An egg began to glow a couple inches to the left of Conor. A bright white light drowned out the rest of the sights and, if you were able to see through the bright light, it got much larger- at least three times the size. It grew to the maximum capacity of the area it had been kept in, the light finally dying down. Curious beady eyes eyed Conor with interest. This newly-hatched Pokemon was yellow, with a hump that was a bright green color. Its legs were quite short, but its face was irresistable.
+Aww! Would you look at that! Haven't seen one of those hatch in... well, ever,+
[/color] a voice said- the Squirtle from earlier, wearing a pack on his back. The Professor smiled and nodded in agreement. "Congratulations, Conor. You got a really special Pokemon- we rarely get any of those to hatch here," she said. "Nu~!"[/color] the Pokemon said happily, eyes shining brightly.  Numel hatched from the egg! Will you keep?[/size][/center] |

Conor looked at the Numel as a grin spread across his face. 'Wow, I have never seen a Numel in real life before. I mean they may be slow Pokemon, but they are awesome on the defense. That's why they are one of my favorites. I am so taking this little guy. In fact, I think that I will name him Eruptor. Yeah, Conor Fitz and Eruptor the Numel. I like the sound of that.' he thought as he looked the little Numel over. Turning to the Professor, fully grinning now, Conor said, "Thank you Professor. Numel just happen to be one of my favorite Pokemon. Numel will be a great partner." After he said this, Conor extended his hand towards the Numel and attempted to pet it.

"Well, I'm glad that you like Numel. Not too many people do- well, those people are a bit inexperienced, though. They don't see the greatness a Numel can be if trained properly," the Professor said, knowing that Conor would be a superb trainer.
The Numel looked at the hand with interest as Conor tried to pet it- what was it supposed to do? A strange sensation came to its nose, and it turned its head just in time to sneeze, a small amount of smoke emitting from its nose as it did so. "Nu,"
[/color] it said, straining to try and communicate with Conor and the Professor. Apparently, not all Pokemon could start talking as soon as they hatched out of their egg. +That was weird!+[/color] it finally managed to say, hoping it had said things the right way. The voice was very kid-like, and gave away that it definitely wasn't old at all. The Numel stuck its long neck out at Conor's outstretched hand, enjoying that 'petting'. +I like that,+[/color] it said happily. A few bright lights came from the other side of the room and the Professor sighed. "Hydro, would you mind rounding up a few of the others? It seems as though a few more have decided to hatch today, without the presence trainer. I guess they are just eager ones," she said. Hydro saluted, deposited the pack beside the Professor's feet, and scampered off in a hurry. "Well, here's your pack-" the Professor said, picking up the pack and holding it out in one hand to Conor. "And, here's the special Pokeball to ensure the ownership of the Pokemon that hatched for you," she said, fishing a Pokeball out of her large pocket and handing it to her. It didn't really look much different- just the coloring was a bit darker, and it felt a whole lot lighter than even normal empty Pokeballs. Perhaps it was like a Master Ball, but for newly-hatched Pokemon? Ah, who knew... [/size][/center] |

Conor, deciding to keep one hand on the Numel, accepted the weird Pokeball graciously. "Thanks Professor," shifting his attention towards the newly hatched Numel, Conor continued, "Well, Numel. Welcome to the team." After he said this, Conor gently tossed the weird Pokeball at the Numel and waited for the imminent capture. 'Man, this is so exciting. I am finally going to be able to start my own journey,' thought Conor as he waited.

Conor grinned as he "caught" Numel. Picking up the Pokeball and accepting the starter pack, he looks to the Professor and says, "Thanks Professor. I promise to take good care of Eruptor here. Well, I'm off. I'll see ya around Professor. Have a nice day." On that note, Conor walked calmly out of the lab, then raced to the first route. He was finally beginning his journey.
