"Why did I even think to take Michael's advice and leave my home region?" a slender girl asked herself. Her hair was down and around her shoulders, blowing in the slight breeze as she made her way down the path she had taken forever to find. These maps here were a bit different, she noted, but she knew she'd get used to them... eventually. "Of course, I'll regret at first doing so, then thank him dearly afterward... I hate how I regret things at first even when I know I won't later..." she mumbled to herself. She fished around in her pocket for her music source and turned it on. "Ah, there we go. Something that will brighten up my mood," she said happily as she began skipping on light feet at a faster pace to her tunes.
After her third song had played, she slowed to a casual walk, head held high. She could see the lab not too far away; she wasn't in any huge hurry, so she didn't even pick up her pace. She did, after all, have a long time ahead of her. Plus, she wanted to get to know every bush and every tree. It was just something she tried to do in case she ever needed to go back the way she came for some reason. It's what she had done back in her old region, and she did go back quite often to hide as she got away with her heists and someone was attempting to pursue her. Ha! That was a joke, trying to pursue The Black Fox...
As she finally reached the lab, she didn't bother to mind her manners. If she knocked, it would only be all the much longer, and besides; someone might not hear. She let herself in, and quietly closed the door behind her, letting her eyes adjust to the slightly dimmer interior of the building.

Inside, there was a Squirtle apparently dozing on top of a desk, filled with papers and folders. There were Pokeballs everywhere; on top of the desk were a few, there were some scattered about on the ground, some were open leaving the occupants free to roam, though they were nowhere to be found. A voice receded throughout the room.
"Just a moment, newcomer," it said.
A few moments later, a Lucario appeared with a pack around its back. Though, this was no ordinary Lucario, that much was sure right off the bat. Instead of the usual black and blue, this one was red and blue. Hmm. How odd...
"The professor is out at the moment, and her aides have the day off, so I'm in charge of the whole new trainer thing for the moment." the Lucario said. Its mouth wasn't moving, but words were coming from it. Telepathy. The Squirtle that had been dozing suddenly raised itself and yawned a massive yawn before hopping down and standing next to the Lucario. +What can we get ya today young lady?+

It took Fox's eyes a while to adjust to the dimness, and she saw the figure coming toward her; she realized it was a Lucario, but couldn't quite see the complete coloring of it yet. Where was the professor at, anyway? When her eyes finally adjusted, it was all she could do to not stare at the Lucario. And, above all, it was speaking using telepathy. Didn't see too many Pokemon with that capability... he would make a good... no, don't even think it! Fox scolded herself, shaking her head, attempting to get the thought of somehow stealing that Lucario out of her head.
Alright, so, the professor was out and this Lucario was in charge. This reminded her of her first awkward moment with the Absol when she had learned she could understand Pokemon whether they be using obvious telepathy and anyone could understand, or if they were saying their names and partial names over and over. To someone who couldn't understand, the Squirtle would have said something like 'Squirtle squirt squirtle, squirt squirt?'.
"Well, since you two seem to have everything in your hands... Well, could I possibly get my starter Pokemon and starter pack? An Absol, if that's possible?" she asked, hoping the rumors about this place being able to give any Pokemon out for starters was true. Well, that was in its first stage of evolution, anyway.

The Lucario chuckled a bit at the girl's reaction to him. He had gotten much worse before, and even a few fainters, sot his was pretty mild in comparison.
"Sure thing. The name's Optimus, if you wanted to know. Hydro, go fetch her what she wants, hmm?" Optimus said as he glanced down at the little Squirtle. Well, compared to him the Squirtle was small. +Yeah, sure thing boss,+
[/color] the Squirtle said as he scampered into a room that said 'PROFESSOR AND AIDES ONLY'. After a minute or so, the door opened a bit and shut as the Squirtle came back, walking on his two legs this time as he carried two Pokeballs. +Wasn't sure if you wanted male or female, so I got both,+[/color] he said. He reached up as high as he could and gave the two to teh Lucario, who in turn released each Absol. The male, somehow, was much smaller than the female. He also seemed like he could care less about anything, and ignored everybody in the room. The female, however, gazed at Fox with interest for a bit before she lay down on the spot, watching Optimus, Hydro, and Fox with unblinking eyes. +I doubt that she'll ever get a good trainer. She's usually the quiet type... most prefer the rambunctious kind, or the kind like him, where they teach them manners. Don't know why that is, but it's been like that with the last few trainers that have come by here,+[/color] Hydro said. Optimus nodded in agreement and confirmation. "Well, take your time choosing," Optimus said, as he leaned against the desk, Hydro following suit. [/size][/center] |

Fox waited patiently for the Squirtle to return. Did every Pokemon here have a name? Optimus, Hydro... she almost expected the Absol she would have to already have a name. She had missed the chuckle that Optimus had given off, mainly because she was looking around at the untidy interior. Well, this place might be worth something if it was cleaned up a bit. Pity it was so untidy... how long had the professor been gone? Or was it always like this?
When the Squirtle returned, she felt bad for not telling him the gender she had wanted. Well, she already knew, though. She wanted a female, like she had had back at home.
"Well, thank you, uh... Hydro. That was very considerate of you," she said, observing the two Absol before her now. The male almost seemed to have the nature of the one back at home, but she wasn't sure that it would be the same. Male's were more prone to those kinds of attitudes; besides, she felt more comfortable working with a female Absol, as that's what she had done for the past four and a half years or so. She made her decision rather quickly.
"I'll take the female. She reminds me of a really good friend back where I came from," she said.

Hydro seemed pleased at what Fox had said about him; very considerate. His first compliment in who knows how long. If she meant, he wasn't sure, but he had gotten someone to like something he had done! Party time for him as soon as she left...
"Excellent," Optimus said, as he returned each Absol to each of their Pokeballs, the male one seeming a little disappointed that he hadn't been chosen. Optimus took the pack that had been on his back and handed it along with the Pokeball to Fox.
"Best wishes on your journey," he said.

"Thank you, Optimus and Hydro. It was a pleasure meeting you both," Fox said, grinning as she headed out, her pack slung over her shoulder and her Pokeball in hand.
"Absol; check," she noted to herself as soon as she was outside. "One down, five to go, and anything inbetween," she said, smiling to herself.
