+Hey Ea, do you know why the river is red?+
Geth asked with a smirk on his face as he walked on the right of Ea, the newest member of the team. Ea knew that it would likely be a sick joke, or something that was unnecessary to be said, so she ignored him. +It's from the blood of Pokemon like you and mean as well as their Trainers when they died in a battle,+ he said. +Geth, quit being such a butt. It's not blood that makes the Red River red,+ Mo said as he floated behind and above Ea and Geth. +Darvy, what makes the river red?+ Ea decided to ask Ironhide, her trainer, to keep the two from arguing. "Well, to make it interesting someone thought up of a fictional story to explain why the river is red, saying that it's the blood of Pokemon and their trainers. But, really, it's the fragments of red dirt that are in the river that give it its red color," Ironhide explained, still trying to get used to the nickname Ea had decided to call her; "Darvy". A little ways down the ice had thawed out in a section and was flowing steadily for a few yards before running over the top of a few patches of thick ice. +I wonder how long the River really is,+ Ea wondered, wandering over to the edge of river and peering down into it. She looked at her own reflection, and she focused her vision beyond that, to see a few other Water-Type Pokemon at the bottom. She quickly turned away and caught up with Ironhide, Geth, and Mo to avoid being attacked by a water-type. "I don't know, Ea. Some say it goes on for a hundred miles, at least, but the road beside it only goes a few miles. Well, for here, anyways," Ironhide said. +I'll bet there's a huge waterfall at the end of this river! I wonder what a waterfall is like up-close?+ Mo said in wonderment. +Yeah. It would be great to fly down it, and zip back up at last second, wings grazing the water's surface, the spray of the bottom of the waterfall refreshing you,+ Geth said, actually not sounding aggressive for once. Ea sighed; she didn't like water much at all. It wasn't her fault, though; she was a fire-type, and fire-types did not do well with water. +Living by the river would be a great life,+ Geth said. +No, by a waterfall would be even better,+ Geth added as he ran ahead of Ironhide, Mo, and Ea, brimming with energy and not in his usual mood. Ironhide decided to go with the flow. "Well, unless you're a fire-type, no offense Ea. Living near a volcano would be pretty cool though, too," she said. +I would prefer living somewhere peaceful and quiet, with not a lot of sunshine, but not dark all the time, and it doesn't get freezing cold, but not extremely hot. I guess I'm sort of the in-between one here,+ Mo said with a slight child-like giggle. +We all are entitled to our opinions, though,+ Ea said, her little legs moving quite fast to keep up with the large strides of Ironhide. +You know... I'm beginning to think this route will be a piece of cake,+ Mo said. +After all, look how far we've come, and yet no wild Pokemon have challenged us. Shoot, we haven't even found a wild Pokemon in need, either,+ Mo said happily. +That's a relief... on my behalf as well. I wouldn't do so well in this terrain. It's too wet and slushy,+ Ea said, nearly stepping into a large pothole filled with half-melted snow. +Easy does it,+ Geth commented as he began humming a random song slightlly off-pitch and barely audible for as quietly as he was humming it. +Any ideas as to why Geth is in such a good mood?+ Mo asked. ~Not a clue,~ Ironhide replied, scratching her head as she watched her Shiny Bagon act strange for his personality. ~Spheal, Sphe Spheal, Sphe Sphe Sphee Spheal!~ sang a Pokemon. It's fat shape- a spere, in fact- bounced into view like a bouncey ball as it skipped down the lane towards Ironhide. It giggled, for it was passing an area where the snow was thick and untouched, the ice solid. Ah, how lovely. Ice and snow. The Spheal tumbled in it, laughing happily as the stuff was cool on it's shoulder. Then-
~Sph? E-E-E-E-aaaaaaal!~ came the pained wail as the young Ice type discovered that when spring comes, snow melts. It was now closer to Ironhide, sniffing at the lumps of slush that was dotted around. It caught sight of Ironhide and froze. ~You! YOU DID THIS! You stopped my pretty snow! Come on, coward! Fight me! I'll show you how deserving ice and snow really is!~

Ironhide listened to the sound of the happy Spheal. It was nice to hear some wild Pokemon enjoying the snow while it lasted, too. Ironhide had always enjoyed snow, but never really had enough free time to play in it, like a lot of younger kids did. Ice was also fun; the slipping and sliding and joy of it made it priceless fun.
Well, not all snow could stay forever though, right? It either melted or was replaced by other snow if it was in the high mountains. And Ironhide realised that this Spheal had found that out for the first time. It was quite disheartening hearing the Spheal so upset, but blaming it on the first thing it saw that was alive? "I did it? Shoot, if I could make snow come and go, I'd make it winter all year, Spheal. I love snow just as much as you do, but it can't stay forever. If it's a fight you want, though, it's a fight you'll get," Ironhide said, shrugging. She glanced at Geth, who was too preoccupied ramming his head against a hollowed-out log, and Ea refused to fight against any kind of Pokemon having to do with water. "Mo, you think you can handle it?" she asked. Mo sighed, but nodded. +Sure. Besides, I want to learn more than just Teleport. I mean, if I just sit around, I'll get nowhere,+
Mo said on a positive note as he came forward.

Spheal didn't seem to believe Ironhide. ~You're just saying that! I know you made my snow go away, and I'm gonna make you pay!~ it said. A shiver of excitement ran through it; this would be it's first battle. After all, this was it's first winter.
Studying it's opponent, for it had never seen an Abra before, Spheal opened it's mouth and used its favourite attack, spraying more glorious snow at Mo.

"Alright, alright, make me pay, Spheal, for something I didn't do. I can't control the weather, and neither can you or any of my Pokemon," Ironhide said, shrugging as she was ready for Mo to fight the young Spheal. Hopefully this Spheal wouldn't be as tough as the Scyther had been... that was quite the battle, as she recalled.
Mo watched the young Spheal carefully, waiting for an order from Ironhide. He watched as the Spheal let out an attack of its own which Mo recognized as Powder Snow. ~It's all you, Mo. But go easy on the Spheal; I think this is its first battle, and it's quite young.~ Ironhide told Mo. Mo grinned at this; he loved doing free battles. He waited until last second to use Teleport, feeling a slight chill before doing so. He made it look like he couldn't teleport far; just a few yards to the right. His only hope was that the Spheal had a physical attack, or at least one that could richochet off of a Barrier.

The Spheal, being on level 5 against an Abra of level 21, didn't stand much of a chance of winning. It still was excited; who wouldn't be on their first battle? It giggled as Mo used Teleport; he couldn't move very far, and it took him a while to do so as well. Oh, yes! Wheren't Abra that Pokemon that could only use Teleport?
Spheal clapped its pudgy hands together in delight. ~I'm gonna win! I'll show my siblings who's boss!~ it squealed in a singsong voice, inhaling to be even fatter, if that were possible, and exhaling a large squirt of water; Water Gun. This attack looked like it would be able to bounce off a Barrier.

Mo felt, somehow, stronger all of a sudden. Why hadn't he felt stronger during the training they had done earlier? He felt himself begin to change, but forced himself to stop. Just using that one Teleport after training, and already he was... ready to evolve? It was an exciting thought, but he wanted to postpone it, for the young Spheal's sake. He hoped Ironhide, Geth, Ea, and the Spheal thought they had just seen something rather than witness a second-long white glow on him. If all else failed, he could say he didn't feel anything.
Mo couldn't help but chuckle at the young Spheal. Young and unknowing, it thought it would be able to beat him; well, perhaps he could let it hit him a few times, at least. After all, his defence was pretty good, and that weak Water Gun would likely just feel like a strong shower. This time, he would let it hit him, pretend like the Spheal was too fast for him. Mo looked around, trying to seem as if he were looking for the Spheal. He looked directly at it as it hit him, and allowed it to shoot him backwards, exaggerating it a bit himself. Mo fell to the ground, doing his best at acting like that had been a powerful hit. +Hey, that was pretty powerful for a young one,+
Mo complimented the Spheal as he got back up, not fibbing about that. For being quite young, the Spheal did pack quite a punch... or water gun, in this case.

Spheal laughed and clapped its hands again. Even Mo knew it as stronger that it's siblings! After all, it had been the first one out the den, and stuff. He laughed again in glee. Life didn't get much better than this! It almost conpensated for the snow!
Getting bak to the battle, Spheal cocked it's head as it studied the Abra before him, thinking about which move it should use. Finally deciding on another Water Gun, for that had gone down so well before, it fired.

Mo waited for the young Spheal to make its next move. If it decided to use Water Gun, he would use Barrier. If anything else, well... Teleport. He didn't really feel like seeing if he could use new moves at the moment. Besides, if he did, it would be obvious he was ready to evolve. After all, Abra only learned Confusion when it evolved, or was ready to evolve, into a Kadabra. He couldn't help but grow fond of the young Spheal, its eagerness to battle, and certainty of winning.
Seeing the Spheal ready for another Water Gun, Mo waited until last second to do his thing. He put up a Barrier, angled so that, if it did bounce off, it would hit the Spheal if it didn't move out of the way in time. Mo hovered behind his Barrier as he felt a few drops of water rain down on him from the impact.

The water successfully rebounded back on the Spheal. It squealed in discomfort as the water easily had it to the ground, and the Ice type looked rather hurt. Only another attack or two would finish it off, but this was a determined Pokemon and it did not seem to learn a lesson from that, using Water Gun again.

ooc:// Oh, and Mo doesn't have to gain levels after this battle, since there is such a high level difference, unless you want him to x3
ic:// Well, the Spheal had some great attack power for being so young, but... the defense needed some working on, if Ironhide decided to try and capture it. Being so young, and so determined, Mo had thought it wouldn't learn that if it used Water Gun, he could just use Barrier again. Well, if this next one didn't do the trick, he'd drag it out a bit longer, perhaps. As the Spheal shot another Water Gun, he moved a bit closer to the Spheal before using Barrier again, hoping the shorter range would that the Water Gun had traveled would ricochet off a little harder. Well, the Spheal certainly has some spunk Mo thought.

The attack indeed seemed to have much the same effect as before. Spheal winced again the attack rebounded, falling to the ground. It lay still, panting, for a moment before struggling to it's feet once more. It still had a little strength left in it, but it didn't realise that thr only way Mo could inflict damage upon it was if it used Water Gun until after it had sent the huge jet of clear liquid at the Abra.

Well, the Spheal was weak, and Mo, even though he wanted to drag it on a little longer, knew that they could get going sooner if he finished it now. Moving even closer than before, he used Barrier yet again, enjoying the few drops of the cool water that splashed over and around the Barrier from being so close. The water spray did feel good, despite it being a little chilly out. +You're one tough cookie,+
Mo said as the water ricocheted back towards the Spheal.

Spheal nodded again and giggled weakly at Mo's compliment, them finally keeled over. The Spheal had put up the best (and first) fight of it's short life so far, but there's always something better than you. Maybe Ironhide would catch it. It certainly seemed the sort of Pokemon who'd love to go on adventures and get stronger.
Either way, the Spheal was in no condition to see now, and the change of evolution was dragging Mo into it's depths. It was painfully difficult to resist, as it attempted desperately to force the Abra's body into a Kadabra. Would Mo get stronger, learning new moves other than Teleport? Or would he remain an Abra? It would be tough to stay an Abra, for the evolution was already beginning to force a trickle of light to glow down Mo's spine...

"Great job, Mo! You didn't go too hard on the little Spheal. You're a bit soft," Ironhide commented with a slight giggle. Was it her imagination, or had Mo temporarily glowed near the beginning of the battle? Well, it could've been the light, and obviously Mo had been unaffected, and neither Ea nor Geth had said anything, so she assumed she was just seeing things, or it was a play on the melted and melting snow with the sunlight. She took an empty Pokeball from her belt and tossed it at the young Spheal who was unable to battle anymore. A Spheal... she had heard the evolved forms could get pretty tough.
Mo could feel the force of evolution becoming ever more strong. Mo turned to face Ironhide and Ea, Geth nowhere to be seen. Well, if Geth watched this, he would be amazed, and perhaps even a little more respect for Mo. Ea was the first to notice the white glow enveloping Mo. +Darvy, Darvy, look! I think Mo's evolving!+
she said as she nudged Ironhide to look in the direction of Mo. Geth even poked his head out of the bushes to watch. He had found some delicious berries and had been contentedly eating them, when he heard the mention of Mo evolving. Now that he couldn't miss... if it were true, then he wouldn't be able to pick on him much anymore. Mo was completely covered in the white glow, and he felt his body begin to change. He felt his arms and legs get much bigger, his head change, a mustache grow, and a sthingy appeared in his hand. When the evolution was complete, he was more than three times the size he had been... and now had a nice, fluffy-like tail. +Woah...+ was the only thing Mo could manage to say, and was surprised at how different his voice sounded. It sounded deeper, more mature. "Congrats, Mo! You look so much cooler now! And... wow, I never knew Kadabra could look so cuddly," Ironhide said excitedly. This route had certainly been exciting. Mo evolved, and she most likely was going to get a Spheal. She hugged Mo, who blushed deeply, as she watched the Pokeball wriggling behind him.
