{Ri, ri... riiugh...}
Darting through the trees arond the lab, the small Riolu paused for a moment outside the glazed, thick glass of the laboratory double doors, catching its breath. Dirt and mud caked its legs up to its knees, and patches of red fur splattered its chest. Glancing behind it at the sound of pounding feet, it stepped nearly to the side as an Absol with smooth, pink fur skidded to a halt next to him. {So, ahh... you're still sure this is a good idea?}
It was the Riolu who spoke first. It had a voice reminiscent of an adolescent boy, but slightly higher pitched and (of course) in poketoungue. The Absol nodded. {It's what you've always wanted to do, isn't it? Besides, this way you can make some money, get a name for yourself, fit in...}
The Riolu sighed. {Very well. I... guess.}
Several minutes later, a thin and rather shifty-looking boy emerged from under the cover of a few densely-packed trees. He wore dark clothes, and small ears poked out from under his dark red hair. {I'll, uhh... yeah, I'll just stay outside while you go in, hmm?} "Coward."
Rapping on the door with his paw-like hand, Arley peered eagerly into the gloom. Hopefully somebody was in.

Professor Hide opened the door. She seemed surprised at Arley's Pokemon-like appearance. She smiled, and said, "Hello. You're here for your starter, right? Hey, come on in." she waved Arley through, not spotting the Absol behind him.
Once inside, a hand suddenly gripped the boy. Looking down the arm, hosting a single horn, and onto the body and face, it was possible to tell this was a Lucario. But no ordinary Lucario at that; the coloring was all strange. He seemed happy with Arley for some reason. +It's been a while since I've another member of the Lucario family. My name is Optimus.+ Optimus spoke in his usual method of telepathy.
Hide looked surprised again; surprised Optimus had taken such a liking to the boy. Probably something to do with his Riolu-morphism. She grinned. "Glad you're getting along with someone for once, Optimus. Now, I didn't get your name, but do you have any ideas as to what Pokemon you would like for a starter?"

Arley shrugged.
"Umm, a flying type, maybe? To be honest, I hadn't really given it that much thought. Do you have any suggestions?"
Arley gave a nervous chuckle. He'd been in such a rush getting in, he hadn't considered what he might want as a starter pokemon. He'd been too preocuppied with actually getting to the lab, he hadn't considered the other eventualities.
"I'd like, um, something... big, maybe?"

Hide nodded. That wasn't too specific, but she knew she had many things to that description. "I have a lot of Flying types, and plenty of Pokemon that are or evolve into big Pokemon. Let's see, Pidgey, Starly, Tailow, Chatot, Murkrow, Hoothoot, Growlithe, Absol, Munchlax, and, although I only have one because people rarely take them, Wailmer. I have others, too, if you're interested."
Behind her, Optimus sighed. +Don't get her started on the Pokemon we have in here.~ he spoke using telepathy.

Arley grinned, and nodded. "U-um... well, I don't think Absol, I mean... seing as I- wait, heheh..."
He shook his head and started on a new sentence. "So. How about Murkrow? Murkrow seems good, or Pidgey. Murkrow evolves using an elemental stone, right?"

((You're asking for something Uncommon when you got an Ultra Rare rating, so...)) The Professor and Optimus exchanged glances. "Murkrow... Pidgey is fine, but Murkrow... well, I'm sure you've heard about a Murkrow's personality..." Hide stuttered, grabbing two Pokeballs off a shelf and releasing the Pokemon inside.
The first, a small Pidgey, regarded Arley with fearful eyes, then hopped back a few steps and cocked its head. It seemed a little cautious, but woulf probably make a good companion over time.
The next Pokemon, however, came out with more of an entrance. A cackle of pealing laughter, and a pink Murkrow appeared on the floor. It cast it's gaze around, searching for a possible prank. It saw Arley, gave a laugh, then flew to his head and pulled at his ears in amazement.

Arley stared curiously at the Murkrow as it emerged out of its ball, and gave a short cry as it flew over to pluck at his ears. Tugging it off, he held it and stared at it for a moment, before dropping it to the floor, where it landed with a disgruntled 'caw' and began to preen the feathers of its emerald right wing. "It's certainly interesting. Tell you what, I'll take it. Um, please." He grinned, hoping they wouldn't notice he'd forgotten his manner until the last second.

((Oh, wait, shiny Murkrows are pink...)) Hide shrugged, and handed Arley the Murkrow's Pokeball, much to the crow's delight. Pidgey, seeming to be releived not to go on a scary adventure, returned to it's Pokeball.

Arley grinned as he took the pokéball. He couldn't help it. The Murkrow was somehow... enigmatic in its antics.
Scooping it up, it cawed, before flying up onto his head and plucking at his hair. Arley winced. Then again, maybe this hadn't been such a good idea...
