Behind Dezter came an evil cackle- evil Celebi didn't want to hang around long- and in a strange wave of mysterious black, purple and navy blue light, the Ecelebi was gone. Oh no. This was extremely bad. Celebi could go back in time. That meant so could Ecelebi. And if Ecelebi went back in time, to when there wasn't enough tecnology to contain her... who knows what she could do back there. You'd better start watching out- whole cities might disappear as Ecelebi began her evil deeds in the past.
As Zar spoke, a hush fell on the group. They all nodded, and a murmer went through. Finally, a Togekiss and a baby Togepi shuffled foward. ~I-I am.~ This sent the others to nod and do the same, and soon the entire group of Pokemon followed Zar out to join his trainer. A few gasped in awe at Celebi.
A growl sounded as footsteps padded down the corridor- metallic footsteps. The Absol. Celebi rose protectively over the group as it approuched. ~Absol, don't you dare come forward. Run along back to your whimpy little trainer.~
Absol snarled. ~She's not whimpy!~ ~Then how come she has to turn her only Pokemon into a robot entirely at her control?~
That was the last straw. Several Pokemon screamed as Absol jumped toward them. Celebi pulled her paws apart, and Absol hit an invisible wall, sliding to the ground. ~Just because I've been in an inlosure the previous month does not mean I am not strong. In fact, it means I'm angry. At you and the humans you side with.~ a Leaf Storm attack had Absol pinned to the ground, Celebi's well-rested body holding him down. ~Go, and while you have the chance, leave Team Vex. They may have mutated you, but it's not too late to lead a normal life.~ she snarled in a hushed tone, and Absol was released. He ran, shaking his head, away. Maybe he wasn't going over to the side of good, but he at least he wouldn't bother them while Celebi was helping.

Well, Dexter knew that wouldn't go too well... the evil Celebi going back in time, anyways. He hoped it wouldn't have too drastic of effects presently. Well, he had the good Celebi that he freed, though, and that would be good enough for the time being. Or, it should, at least, he thought.
Zar was glad that a hush had come, finally. Well, that had gone better than he had thought. As soon as the Togekiss and baby Togepi had come forward, the rest had followed. Almost like a Bandwagon, he thought. Zar himself was surprised at Celebi as they all exited the room, not even needing the keys for as not-sturdy as the cages were.
Saren was sticking as close to Dexter as possible. After seeing that evil Celebi... it reminded him of something else, but he couldn't quite remember what. Something about his past, before he was even technically 'captured', then abandoned. He had a very bad feeling about what was to come in the future, but he didn't express his feelings with Dexter, or anyone for that matter. He was too deep in thought, trying to remember than to speak.
"Thank you, Celebi. Now, do any of you know a good way to get out of this machine?" Dexter asked the Pokemon that had just come out of the room. He was amazed at the looks of some of them; Team Vex really had done a number on them. Well, at least he didn't have the Absol to worry about, now. As soon as he got out, he would be glad. But he secretly vowed to do something about Team Vex in the future, when he was strong enough.

Celebi shrugged. ~The way we came in, I guess. Trouble is, I was blindfolded.~ she said uneasily. Would anything ever go right? She hoped so. Well, the big crowd of Pokemon was sure to contain someone who knew the way out- right? She looked at them all and voiced these thoughts.
~I thinks I saw the way I's come. It was like, by this door and one of 'em water holder thingys. I tooks a long times to get here, I did, so must be far away. I remember passin' a couple o' stairs an' all that.~ a Pichu who was covered from head to toe in scales said, eyeing the other Pichu jeleously. It pointed down the corridor in the apparent direction, and the group wordlessly began to follow it as it walked along, occasionally stopping where the path forked in two to think.
As they were beginning to believe that the mutated Pichu did not in fact know the way, a happy whistle came from not far away as footsteps neared the corridor. "I'm a Team Vex member, I'm a Team Vex member!" he chanted in a singsong voice. Clearly he had just become a member of the Team, if Dexter wanted to pass he would have to run, somehow ask for a map or something, or battle. Which would it be?

Dexter sighed, knowing this might not fare too well. If they had no idea where the exit was, they could be trapped in here until Team Vex found them and rounded them up again. He looked out amongst the many mutated Pokemon, in hopes that at least one knew the way, or at least most of the way.
Dexter listened as the mutated Pichu spoke. He couldn't help but feel sorry for the poor thing; it was nothing like a normal Pichu would be like. Covered in scales was not how he would want to be if he hadn't been born that way. And he noticed it eyeing the normal Pichu with a hint of jealousy. Well, right now that Pichu was their only hope, and he and the others followed.
Dexter was about to ask if the Pichu really did know the way when he froze at the sound of someone, apparently in a happy mood, approaching. Well, if he got near where they were currently, he might raise an alarm upon seeing all of the mutated Pokemon out of the laboratory. Dexter quickly ran ahead of the others to meet whoever it was, in hopes that he would not, in fact, find them and perhaps persuade him to show him the way out. "Hey man, congrats on that. I just became a member, too. But I gotta tell ya, I've been lost in here for a while; you have any idea how to get out of here?" Dexter said, the rim of his hat low over his eyes so the new Team Vex member could not see them. Zar and Saren were standing by, ready to aid him if the need arised. They were not in his sight, but Dexter could tell they were, somehow, watching and listening in.

The grunt laughed. "What are yeh, an idiot? What happened to yeh map o' the site? And where's yeh uniform?" he asked curiously, unfolding a not-to detailed map of the machine. Clearly, new grunts weren't too trusted. "Tell yeh what, since yeh new like me an' all, I won't tell the boss, an' I'll let yeh use me map." he said, handing Dexter the map.
Just as the boy had had long enough to find the best escape route, the grunt... grunted. "Hey, what d'ja pick fer ya' starter? Ghastly, Zubat, Murkrow, Mistrevious, Mawile o' Stunky? I gots a Murkrow. I'm hopin' I can get so good they gives me an Absol." he said, then he gasped. "Hang on- I forgot the secret handshake! Man, I could o' got fired for that!" he spluttered, turning around and holding his hand to Dexter from behind his back. Not knowing what to do, the boy did the same and shook it. The grunt's eyes narrowed. "Yeh an intruder! Oh, man, me first job! Come on, Murkrow! Defeat this boy, an' make it snappy!" he cried, releasing the Murkrow for whom he clearly had no respect.

"Yeah, you could call me an idiot. I'm always misplacing things," Dexter said, purposely sounding sheepish. "Thanks for not rattin' on me. I wouldn't like to think of what would happen if the boss found out I lost my map. As far as my uniform goes, well... I can't remember where I put it," Dexter said, bowing his head. He was glad the grunt couldn't see the mischievous glint in his eye, hidden under his hat.
Dexter memorized the best route out when the grunt asked him another question; his starter. Well, he had a Pokemon that was in the same category as a Gastly; a Duskull. So, he could lie about that pretty easily. "Gastly is what I chose. I've always had a thing for ghosts," Dexter said, his smile barely visible. "An Absol? Well, good luck with that, man. You have a ways to go to get one of those," Dexter said, as he turned to leave, the final question was what nailed him. The secret handshake? Not having a clue as to what to do, Dexter followed suit, and immediately knew he was SOL.
"Took you long enough," Dexter said, raising the rim of his hat to make his whole face visible now. "I look forward to this battle. Antozaro, Saren, take care of the Murkrow," Dexter said, as his Duskull and Ralts came from their hiding spots. "Too bad you show no compassion or love with your Pokemon. It could be a lot stronger if you did," Dexter commented, noticing how forceful and uncaring the grunt sounded. Saren and Zar hovered on either side of him, giving a menacing look to the grunt and his Murkrow.

The grunt grunted again. "You can't do a double battle! Bah. I'll just fight the Duskull, then. Murkrow, um... Pursuit. And HIT it, this time!" he shouted angrily, clearly referring to a moment in the training once he was accepted, when Dexter wasn't there. All the grunts had to complete a training excercise, their Pokemon wat the end... but that didn't matter. The battle had begun.
While Murkrow began to move, Celebi, hiding around the corner by bending the light around the group of Pokemon so none could see them, was itching to help Dexter. But she couldn't; that would mean that Team Vex knew she was there, escaped, and put all the escapees back away, Dexter included. It was so frustrating for the little legendary.

Dexter smiled, shaking his head. "I can't do a double battle? It seems as though you are the one short a Pokemon. Saren, dodge and use Night Shade," Dexter said calmly to his Duskull, and in a friendly voice. He didn't like using his voice forcefully, unless someone was really making him angry. He watched as his Duskull complied, narrowly dodging the Pursuit and using Night Shade.
+Come on, Saren! You can do it!+
his Ralts called from the sidelines encouragingly. +Don't let that newbie grunt's Murkrow take you out! You're better than it!+ Ralts said, perching on Dexter's shoulder. "Thanks, Zar. Saren's really going to need the encouragement, I think," Dex said.

Murkrow winced as it's HP slipped away at the contact of the Night Shade. ~Kroo...~ it moaned, standing still while panting for a few seconds until it had it's breath back. Flapping it's wings weakly, it fluttered a few feet in the air, cawing. That had hurt.
The grunt seemed angry. "Come on, you stupid wimp! How could you possibly feel pain from that moron? Use Peck!" he barked, recieving a warning glare from his Pokemon, for it knew how nice Dexter was being to Saren. However, it knew there would be worse consequenses if it didn't obey. Going in for a weak attack, it hoped the Duskull would win so he would be released back into the wild.

Saren looked sympathetically at the Murkrow. It was obviously quite weak, and didn't stand a chance against him. He waited for his next order from Dex, hoping he wouldn't be brutal... not that, to his knowledge, he had ever been, but still.
Dexter was quite upset with how badly the grunt treated his Murkrow. "Hmm. If you treat your Pokemon like that, they'll turn against you. But hey, maybe your methods are different than mine," Dexter said, shrugging. Use Night Shade again, but let the Murkrow hit you first, Dexter thought to Saren. Saren looked at Dexter, wondering if he felt the same way. Pretending to get ready for a Night Shade, he allowed the Murkrow's weak Peck to get him. It hadn't hurt all that much, and it pained him for his next move. As soon as he recovered, he used Night Shade again. +Sorry, pal... you deserve a much better trainer,+
Saren said quietly so only the Murkrow could hear as he unleashed another Night Shade.

Murkrow winked at Saren, muttering, ~Thanks. Please beat me, then they'll release me and give my trainer something like a Spinerak.~ his agonised caw seemed louder than it should. He couldn't change how much pain he felt, but perhaps if he sounded like more of a whimp, his chances of being released would be much greater.
The grunt shouted again. "Fo' god sake, ye whimp! Come on, don' make me smack ye! PECK!" Murkrow sighed, giving him a cold stare before launching into the air and diving in a straight line to Saren with an unwilling Peck at the end.

Saren looked weirdly at the Murkrow, then gave a very slightly noticeable nod. +I feel really bad for doing it... I really hope you'll either get a nicer trainer or find a nice home if you're lucky enough to get released,+
he said quietly as he prepared for another NIght Shade. "Hmm. Maybe your Murkrow should smack you instead of you smacking it," Dexter suggested. He couldn't hear the exchange of words between Saren and the Murkrow, but he could tell that they weren't harsh, mean, or anything by their expressions. He wouldn't bother to ask, either. +That Murkrow deserves much better than a Team Vex grunt. Of all the people it had to get assigned to, it was assigned to an illiterate imbecile,+ Zar said. Saren let the Murkrow hit him again, making the battle at least look good. As soon as he recovered from the weak and unenthusiastic Peck, he used Night Shade again.

The grunt looked stunned by the waves of insult coming from Zar. "I en't battlin' to be insulted! Maybe yer outta see wah' else they migh' give me! Yer know tha' robot Absol thing? Them been developin' 'em. I migh' get me a clone-cyborg!" he cried, a hint of excitement in his voice. He watched as his Murkrow collapsed, barely able to stand up.
"Fer ARCEUS' SAKE! Stop gettin' hurt! Pursuit, and be quicker than' last time!" Murkrow was barely able to stand up, and he walked and crawled toward Saren, before moving quicker.
The battle had revealed something major. That must mean they had cloned Pokemon, possibly the very ones standing under Celebi's protective arms, and inserted chips into their brains. Yikes. Technology was so cruel.

+A clone-cyborg, eh? You can barely handle a Murkrow, so what makes you think they'll give you a cyborg-clone?+
Zar asked with a slight smirk. Hey, Saren. I say instead of the Murkrow, we should go for the trainer, Zar thought to Saren, not letting Dexter in on his little plan. You mean attack the grunt? Saren asked as he watched the pitiful Murkrow attempting to attack him. Yes, like on TV... or, well, you might not have seen TV for a while, but there's this reality show where they have this one kid and his Pikachu and other Pokemon always attacking an evil team just like here. It would give the others time to at least head for the exit, maybe Zar replied. Sure beats beating a Pokemon you sympathize Saren replied. Dexter wondered about the 'clone' thing. Having more than one Cyborg-Absol would be quite... what was the word he was looking for? Well, not very good, he decided. Obviously Team Vex was high-tech, and planned to use it for their evil deeds. "Alright, Saren. End it," Dexter said, looking sympathetically at the Murkrow. But, to his amazement, what happened next was definitely not what he had expected.
Upon the command 'end it', Saren readied a Night Shade, but instead of directing it towards the Murkrow, he sent it toward its trainer. Zar did the same, only with Confusion. The Night Shade went flying towards the grunt in the small hallway, and Zar's outline glowed purple as he directed his Confusion at the Team Vex grunt.

The grunt screamed in agony, shock and anger. "What... are... you... doing?" he yelled, face turning red with rage and embarrassement as the attacks continued to hurt him. "Oh, man! I am so fired... Murkrow, why en't ya doin' sommat?"
Murkrow's eyes darkened as he turned to glare at his master. ~Oh. Right. Sorry, 'boss'~ he sneered, before moving in quicker than before and delivering his strongest Peck yet. The grunt's face was twisted in even more surprise. ~There! That good enough for you?~ Murkrow spat as the man was hurled into a wall and speakers on the wall announced in a tinny voice, {Grunt #1524 to the Boss emidiately. Please leave any Pokemon or Team Vex-related items where you are.}
The grunt howled in anger, storming along the corridor without a backward glance at his former team mate. Murkrow cawed happily when he was gone. ~Thank you so much! He'll be stripped of his status! Just in case, we'd better go. Come on, I know the way out!~ he explained, leading Dexter out into the brilliant sunshine. They gulped in the fresh air, enjoying the freedom they had found at last. The other members of the Cutie Club joined them. Once at a safe distance from the machine, they spoke.
Celebi did so first. ~You saved my life. For that, I will find some way to pay you back, Dexter. But now I must depart, to search for my evil counterpart in the past. Farewell for now.~ she said, disappearing with a surge of green light.
Next the various escaped Pokemon came up and bid their thanks, before racing off to their homes. Finally, it was the Cutie Club and Murkrow. Eevee stepped forward, as did Murkrow. ~I speak for both myself and Murkrow when I say that you are a truly astonishing trainer. You can overcome even the most difficult of challenges, and will protect others at all costs.~ Eevee said, a shy smile on it's face. Murkrow spoke next. ~After seeing this... we wondered if it would be acceptable if we joined you?~
