Umbra was glad that she had made contact with the Croagunk; it made her feel good. Seeing the Croagunk come at her with another Mud-Slap, she knew that she could definitely win. This disgusting marsh-pokemon didn't mind getting dirty, but... her, on the other hand, hated it. This would be an exception. She'd make sure to let Dexter have a piece of her mind later on. "Umbra, dodge and use a Tackle again!" Dexter called from behind. 'Yeah, right. Fat chance, there. If I dodge, then the Croagunk will see me coming. Sorry, but I'm going to improvise, though I really dislike it; this might be the only way to win.'
Umbra thought. Instead of dodging the attack, Umbra charged straight into the Mud-Slap, her head down and eyes closed, going completely through it. Of course, it wasn't possible to not get hurt by it; she could feel the sting of it, but as long as none of it got in her eyes, she would be fine, right? Sure of where the Croagunk was, she charged at him with a Tackle.

Croagunk, unable to make out much more of the world than faded blurs, smiled as he felt the Mud-Slap hit. Excellent! He was better than he thought at battling. Yep, he would win this, all right. Well, unless that blur was Umbra coming towards him. But that wasn't possible, was it? After all, she'd have had to have slipped past him during the attack- oh. Right. Oops. Perhaps Croagunk wouldn't find this quite so easy after all. The Eevee collided succesfully with his stomach, but he managed to remain on his feet for once. Croagunk was panting heavily. Another attack should take him down.
He had to make a hit, whether or not he would still win. But with this desasterous accuracy, how would that be possible? Wait a moment- he knew Faint Attack. Faint Attack, a move which hit regardless of all accuracy and evaison modifyers. Brilliant! Croagunk would be able to land a hit on Umbra with that for sure, it was guarantied! The frog Pokémon's shape flickered, before vanishing to reappear behind Umbra for the attack.

"Umbra, what are you doing?!" Dexter exclaimed. Then, he realized; she was reacting on her own. He put his mind in her position, and tried to figure out what had been behind her strategy. Charging straight into the Mud-Slap and connecting with the Croagunk... it made him think. Oh! That had to be it! If Umbra would've dodged, the Croagunk would've seen her coming much easier than what she had done. "Alright, I'll let it slide this once, Umbra. Nice thinking!" Dex said with a grin. 'Right. If I didn't have you to command me all the time, then things would be done recklessly like that all the time. However, sometimes it's wise to listen in certain circumstances.'
Umbra thought with a sigh. Dexter waited for the Croagunk to make a move, giving it the upper hand for now. By the way Umbra was panting, he knew she wouldn't last much longer. He'd have to end it with a final attack. As soon as he saw the Croagunk disappear, he knew that this would be a great challenge. "Umbra, brace yourself!" Dexter shouted. Umbra dug her paws into the muddy ground, and although she was prepared, no traction plus a pretty hard hit don't go so well. Umbra was sent skidding in the mud, barely holding herself up. It was only with great effort and strong will that she remained able to fight. +I will win,+ she said aloud to herself. "Umbra can you manage one more attack?" Dex asked worriedly. +Of course!+ Umbra exclaimed over her shoulder. "Alright! Let's finish this! Use a Sand-Attack, and charge in with a Tackle!" Dex shouted. Before the words had come out of his mouth, Umbra had kicked up the more-mud-than-sand in the Croagunk's direction and then charged forward with a Tackle close behind it. Hopefully, with the Croagunk's impaired vision, this would work again. It would probably be her last shot at victory. [/blockquote]

Croagunk couldn't see the globs of muddy sand heading towards him, but he had heard Umbra scrabbling to make the Sand-Attack, and could smell the earthy sent. He wiped his eyes, the blob in his vision becoming more focused as a result of it- that, and the fact it was now very close. Croagunk hated battling blind, and tried to dodge but failed. Oh, great. His vision was really poor now. Again, he wiped the worst from his eyes, but his sight was even more distorted now. Well, wasn't that just swell.
The frog Pokémon was furious at Umbra, ready to unleash another Faint Attack on her; he had seen how weak she was. However, it seemed she was not done yet. She was moving in, attacking with a Tackle. He couldn't see to dodge, but he'd have to do his best. He had to try! Unfortunately for him, reduced accuracy generally does damage your chances of dodging, and so the Croagunk was struck by the fox's powerful Tackle attack, flying through the air before landing heavily, eyes closed in defeat. The egg Dexter had received earlier gave a little twitch.
Croagunk was defeated! Umbra gained two levels!

As soon as Umbra had made contact with the Croagunk, she collapsed from exhaustion, resting in the mud. That battle had been a real pain; she could feel herself get slightly stronger after that victory, but it was just enough to have her regain enough strength to trudge over to Dexter. "Great job, Umbra. You can take a rest now," Dexter said, returning the Eevee to her Pokeball. +Yippee! We won, we won, we won!+
Saren changed, levitating in circles around Dexter. "We sure did. So, what do you think of adding that Croagunk to our team?" Dexter asked. +He's an odd one, he is! I think he'd fit right in!+ Saren exclaimed, sitting on top of Dexter's hat. Dexter took and empty Pokeball from his pocket and tossed it at the Croagunk. He almost missed the toss as he felt the twitch from the egg. "Whoa. Seems like this egg is... umm... closer to hatching that I would've imagined." he said aloud, watching both the egg and the wriggling Pokeball. [/blockquote]

The egg remained still after that twitch. It couldn't have too much longer to go until it hatched; perhaps only another few days. Maybe it woul even hatch after Dexter left the next town! Attention on the Pokéball, now, since that was probably the most interesting thing at the moment. The capture device had sucessfully drawn Croagunk inside, and begun to shake rapidly and furiously. The frog had some determination, that's for sure! The Pokéball was shaking a worrying amount, but luckily it managed to steady itself. The red and white ball clicked, telling all that Croagunk now belonged to Dexter.
Croagunk was caught! Move onto Avura Town?
